“…He that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him….” – 1Corinthians 14:2

When you pray in tongues, your heavenly Father understands you perfectly well, for you are communicating with Him through the Spirit-a heavenly language. Also, it helps you stir up the power of God resident in your spirit. Though that power came into your life the day you received the Holy Spirit: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you…” (Acts 1:8), you’ve got to activate it through speaking in tongues. That’s why Paul told Timothy to stir up the gift of God in him (2Timothy 1:6).

Also, Christians who regularly speak in tongues are more “fit” spiritually than those who don’t. They are always more attuned to the things of the Spirit! They are more sensitive and responsive to the anointing, and more easily moved by the Holy Ghost. They are hardly the ones the Lord will have a hard time getting to pray at night or to evangelize to someone, or give financially to Kingdom work. When it comes to service in God’s Kingdom, there’s no dullness or lackadaisical attitude with the man or woman who spends time consistently to pray in other tongues.

If you want to rightly position things in the realm of the spirit, praying in other tongues is the key, because you pray the Word and pray in line with the Father’s will since the words you speak are inspired by the Holy Spirit. This is why you must cultivate the habit of praying always in other tongues.

Another exciting benefit about praying in tongues is the impact it has on your human spirit. Many people pray because of their requests and needs but that’s not the big things about prayer. Prayer isn’t a way of convincing God to do something for you. It’s a time of worship and fellowship. This is where praying in the spirit plays a key role. It helps condition your spirit to be sensitive to the realities of the Kingdom.

Dear Father, thank you for teaching me the importance of praying in other tongues and helping me realize its immense benefits. I declare that your inherent power resident in me is activated, and my spirit is conditioned and fine-tuned to receive wisdom, guidance and counsel from the realm of the spirit always, as I spend quality time praying in other tongues, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
