And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of them is charity – 1 Corinthians 13:13

In the Old Testament, sin meant transgressing the law (commandments) given by Moses (1John 3:4). To transgress the law means to violate it. In the New Testament, however, there’s only one law, the law of love: “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” (Galatians 5:14). Jesus said in John 13:34, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.”

However, after you’re born again and you receive the Holy Spirit, love is no longer a commandment to obey; rather it’s the life of the new creation. The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost (Romans 5:5). So love has become your natural way of life. In fact, according to God’s Word, love is the sign that you’ve passed from death to life! That is the inner conviction as the spirit bears witness with your spirit that you’re a child of God: “We know that we have passed from death unto life, BECAUSE WE LOVE the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death” (1 John 3:14).

God has given you His love and the ability to love like Him “…the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us” (Romans 5:5). So turn the searchlight on your heart today and ensure you’re walking in love towards those around you. Let it show in your language and manner of life. Let others see and experience God’s love through you today.

Confession (Faith’s Proclamation)

The love of God has been shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit, and I express it to everyone around me today, through my words and actions. As I do, they’ll receive it and spread it to others in their world too.

1John 4:7 – Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is love. 9In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

John 13:35 – By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
